The campsites are on the Bottom of the Blue Ridge Mountains off the west of the parkway.
Arcadia means “Heavenly & serenity: most peaceful place that I have ever seen”. That is what makes these campsites so special, plus the convenient location is less than 3 miles off the interstate to your destination.
The Upper James Blueway is a 45 mile water trail that goes north of us to Iron Gate VA. The water trail is a push for more outdoor recreational activities on the James River and to promote tourism to the local towns along the way. The historical town of Buchanan, with all its history from civil war, includes Bed & Breakfasts, German restaurants and antique stores galore. It is a small beautiful town.
The James River Livery has canoe and tubing rentals and they work with us on allowing people to primitive camp on the river.
The fishing is remarkable with Muskies Bass, Trout and Cat-fishing. It is absolutely some excellent fishing and you will also be surrounded by the exotic birds that have the protection from Arcadia.
Our primitive campground is TENT camping only. Reservations are required to ensure for an intimate experience. We also have rules and regulations that do apply for your stay on the grounds, and we are here to insure that everyone follows those rules and regulations for their enjoyment.
Willow Moon Bakery is also on the premise, allowing people to order food so they can bring down the river. We are really in tuned with the locally grown food movement and natural organic products. Our Chef Ty Breeden, has catered for the likes of Martina McBride, BB King, Sting, Metallica, Kid Rock, Fuel and many many more. We love primitive cooking, which allows us to use the freshest and old fashioned methods to tease your taste buds.
